Something tells me he's got a badass power source hidden away SOMEWHERE... And it probably is from Halo. Imagine if the opposite energy thing happens for Monitor. IE: The teleport grid will actually recharge him beause he's recognized as part of the installation, and the power drain on non-installation units is actually specifically to disable them. One easy explanation.
