We don't know what impact the Control Room of Halo had on Cortana, and her behavior was peculiarly different after the interface. It's almost as if she were getting emotional at times (death of Keyes, Foehammer, and the destruction of Halo and resulting deaths of all the human survivors). Which brings up an interesting question about Halo 2. Should Cortana become "unstable" (I hate using the word "rampant" all the time), what do you do? She is central to your decision-making. What to do, where to go, who to kill, etc. If you suspect Cortana is compromised, how do you proceed? That would make for an interesting sub-plot for me. Imagine if she figured out you were on to her. Remember what Cortana does when you kill Keyes in the Pillar of Autumn level? : Hmmmm... this has some interesting implications for other aspects of the
