threshing floor

Hmm... the word Halo has origins from Greek. One translation is "threshing floor." Could Cortana's translation of what the Covenant call the ringworld, "Halo", really be a translation of "threshing floor"? Threshing floor can be translated many ways, such as a place of worship or spiritual communion with God. One further translation interests me in terms of Halo, threshing floor was where grain was separated. Could Halo be part of the "threshing floor" where the "wheat" is separated from the "chaff" in our galaxy? Any thoughts?
