Part of that was probably intentional... part of that was probably due to the lack of ability. I never really bothered trying to figure out the story from within the game. By the time I got hooked on the story, everything was published here.
I still do not think I ever completed M1...

Right, yeah, I can see your point. I suppose it depends on the intention behind Infinity. The parts that really bothers me are the dreams. Do they mean anything? It would be cool if they did, but I have a sneaking suspicion they are just there for kicks.
Sort of like the NBM terminals. The abstract symbolism rocks, but if it does not mean anything I will be severely disappointed. If I could ask those that know any one question, it would be if the weirder terminals mean anything.
Until I hear a response to that, however, I will get my own kicks out of analyzing the heck out of them. I have no problem making connections that were never intended. I hold no illusions that any theories are based on flaky assumptions, but I am enjoying myself.
Besides, the Marathon trilogy is my own personal source of inspiration. It keeps me focused on my own work and I use it to remind myself of certain things to avoid. Such as really cool random prose that does not mean anything.
But, in a sense, I like the disconnected nature of Infinity. It forces my mind to make connections and this increases the ability of my own imagination. Due to my attempts at "finding" the story in the Marathon games I have developed a strong ability to find and fix plot holes in other things.
It would be great to eventually find the answers. Perhaps old Bungie will stop by and give us a chance to ask the harder questions. Until then, I will just have fun with what I can find.
Infinity may not have been done well, but I find it to be exactly what spurs my imagination.

	Message: : Part of that was probably intentional... part of that was probably due to the : lack of ability. I never really bothered trying to figure out the story : from within the game. By the time I got hooked on the story, everything : was published here. : I still do not think I ever completed M1... : Right, yeah, I can see your point. I suppose it depends on the intention : behind Infinity. The parts that really bothers me are the dreams. Do they : mean anything? It would be cool if they did, but I have a sneaking : suspicion they are just there for kicks. : Sort of like the NBM terminals. The abstract symbolism rocks, but if it does : not mean anything I will be severely disappointed. If I could ask those : that know any one question, it would be if the weirder terminals mean : anything. : Until I hear a response to that, however, I will get my own kicks out of : analyzing the heck out of them. I have no problem making connections that : were never intended. I hold no illusions that any theories are based on : flaky assumptions, but I am enjoying myself. : Besides, the Marathon trilogy is my own personal source of inspiration. It : keeps me focused on my own work and I use it to remind myself of certain : things to avoid. Such as really cool random prose that does not mean : anything. : But, in a sense, I like the disconnected nature of Infinity. It forces my : mind to make connections and this increases the ability of my own : imagination. Due to my attempts at "finding" the story in the : Marathon games I have developed a strong ability to find and fix plot : holes in other things. : It would be great to eventually find the answers. Perhaps old Bungie will : stop by and give us a chance to ask the harder questions. Until then, I : will just have fun with what I can find. : Infinity may not have been done well, but I find it to be exactly what : spurs my imagination.
