: If all this could be pulled off with a memory card, I'd love to know how. Depending on how the game was written, those files might be small. After all, it's possibly to "replay" a Myth game and watch it from any angle with a film file. Many such files would easily fit on an 8MB memory card. And lots of Myth games last more than 3 minutes :) The only data that needs to be in the "ghost" file basically would be like race telemetry data-- a record of what buttons you pressed, and when, for how long (and what the other cars were directed to do by the AI as well). The engine then just re-renders everything exactly as it happened before. Those races aren't being saved as quicktime movies, after all, and the world state of a game like PGR isn't terribly persistent-- the track doesn't change, or get damaged, so there's nothing to keep track of there. Just a bunch of button presses. | |
