hard drive vs. memory card

It doesn't strike me that any of these uses require a hard drive. A single 8MB memory card in each controller would suffice-- and would be cheaper. Besides, it would be portable to other Xboxes.

The expandability, as in DOA, seems to me to be the killer app for the Xbox's hard drive, but so far it's scarcely been used. Halo doesn't use it, and can't use it in it's current incarnation.
