In Response To: My campiagn gripes *SP* (NartFOpc) : This is just some stuff I wrote down after my initial playthrough last night. : Let me know if you agree/disagree with anything. I still enjoyed the : campaign immensely other than the Mammoth level, and I'll be finishing up : my legendary run tomorrow. Also I have had a blast with multiplayer so : far, big props to 343 on that. : h4gripes.txt : Fighting prometheans is boring.
The only things that really jumped out on my first campaign run is: - The Warthog engine sound is just terrible and is way too loud compared with other ambient sounds. If I was driving and someone was talking, I couldn't hear the voices at all. The sound just doesn't sound Wathog-ish either. - I have a standard stereo setup but sounds that have an echo to them like a shipboard announcement system or sometimes even Cortana are completely unintelligible. - The encounters didn't have the feel of importance to them except maybe the end. It was just fighting the same enemies in different environments. There was story crammed in but I felt some of the encounters were so trivial feeling I felt it could have been delivered as dialogue such as "and then we fought our way through the forest". If I'm going to have an encounter, make it worth something cool. - And that lead to this. I hope in time it has some great replay, but gut instinct now is I can't really think of a level I just 'need' to play over again. The other Halo games have had a level or two in each that was infinitely replayable because it was fun and not at all tedious. I can't think of any levels in Halo 4 that I need to skip to and replay. I hope that changes over time though.
