You are absolutely correct about that, and I can even back up the analogy with slot machines and how happy they make my girlfriend to give away her money.

I guess its just a sign of the times, an endorphin rush. Its part of a larger problem in general I think (the same people that get excited with a fb notification, or a new txt notification) with people almost getting high off those notifications and instant feed back. It takes the fun out of it for me, but I know many others don't feel the same.

When I read your impressions on this stuff, all it did was remind me of this video about sequel evolution for mega man that I really liked. It touches on some good points about how gamers will figure out this stuff on their own AND still have fun that kind of applies to this discussion.
