I was thinking up another wall of text about how I feel about these kinds of ideas and not liking the words or the response they'd get and I realized there's a better way I'd kind of thought of and dismissed before: why would you want to play something like that?
To kind of address another area, I never asked for a darker game, and I was OK with the idea when it was announced but I wasn't profusely thanking anyone, so any way that they didn't deliver on that doesn't bother me on a stylistic level (a little bit on a planning and expectation level, but that's different), and to draw from the wall that was forming, I didn't like the (decidedly dark) end too much anyway.
