Could you clarify that? I don't see how Halsey/Cortana's involvement with Forerunner stuff in Reach contridicts HCE, it only adds (awesome) context. I like to think of Reach as a sort of alternate version of H2. Bungie had two major routes they could have gone when they made a sequel: they could have expanded the space opera/multi-faceted universe angle, or they could have expanded the millitary sci-fi angle. They chose former for H2, and I'm quite glad they did, but it's nice that they eventually got to try the other side implied by HCE as well.
