You have a point there.

I mean that it's a really interesting play space that nothing happens in. This is a prime spot to do something new.

Yes, that's how it's already set up, if that wasn't clear. Covie patrols in the valley hub don't start until after the first evac. Johnson leaves on that Pelican and the player can decide whether to roll with the generic Marines or go it solo.

A good idea. He could even be hanging out at the exit from the first evac. Even if you're in the Warthog, you'll be told that this Ghost is available for testing the hijack mechanic, and the player can then decide to try it out or just roll on through.
