In Response To: Re: By jove I think he has it (Narcogen) : So either Covenant or Human victory in that campaign is possible (although : ultimately irrelevant) and neither conflicts with nor contributes to Halo : canon (much like Halo Wars doesn't). that's it. that's the solution. adding to that, maybe you play these battles, and the actual "story" is a retrospective: for some reason, the player is looking back at the battles that happened before the flood outbreak on installation 04. as you look back, the major players and actions remain the same no matter who wins. there was a battle at such-and such a place, and some event occurred (containment protocol breached, whatever.) as the players progress farther into the campaign, they come to the present: the two sides are arguing over whose side caused the outbreak. in your final battle, both sides work together against the flood, a sort of AI based horde event. you defeat the flood together, and in the end, it's a meaningless victory except for the corny messages of friendship and love that you learned. jesus i just barfed all over myself. shove in a better ending, keep the concept :)
