What little I've played of Team Fortress I've found quite amusing - the many different classes and skills make that more replayable for me. And by contrast you get the campaign orientated games of Half-Life or Portal? Perhaps games fail when they try to do both. (Although using the word 'fail' to describe Halo 2 or Halo 3 in any respect is a very stupid choice - perhaps instead of 'fail' I'd say the division of labour results in short comings?) So for example, if there were going to be more Halo games should there simply be campaign OR multiplayer games? Personally I quite like that approach. After all, why pay for half a game you're only going to use rarely? On the other hand - Mirrors Edge retained so much replayability [shut up it's a word] for me because I could sit and compare my score to other on X Box Live and download their ghosts. That kind of competitiveness really appealed to me.
