mebbe I need to clarify: vaporization isn't nessacerily (I hate spelling that word) the intended effect, but is what happens to bullets. plasma, naturally, would be incredibly hard to vaporize, if my knowledge of what it is is correct. what I"m saying is that energy wooshes in the vaccum that is created when something pierces the field...if it isn't magnetic, then all there is is a "hole" so to speak...if it is magnetic, then there's a disruption, either way, it's potentially noticable to the suit.

and as for the slippery effect...if you take a balloon and press down on it, it resists, due to the air inside, but if you pierce it, the air wooshes out all at once...kind of mirroring the shield's effects. a large object touching the shield would have a little bit of energy spread out, enough that the shields wouldn't get depleted and the object would feel slippery, but a small, piercing object would have a sudden energy explosion to deal with. no doubt the suit can tell the difference between a slow, large object (the battle rifle that he's holding) and a small, fast one (a pistol round), and would have different energy reaction for each.
