In Response To: Energy shield questions (Twitch) : Is there any information anywhere about the physics behind either the elite, : jackal or battlecruiser energy shields? The shield on the Chief is always emitted. My guess is through those pretty little lights we see all over his armor. They serve no other purpose than that. Think of it as a projector. Meanwhile I would assume some sort of electromagnetic field keeps all that energy wrapped around the Chief. My guess is that the field is stronger around the feet and hands simply because the shields are close to the body. This is stated in the Fall of Reach. It's done in order to make sure he doesn't slip on the ground and so he can handle objects. That's the Chief. I'm going out on a limb and saying that the same is most likely true for the Elites. Except they have better generators both in space and shield output (think Legendary and Heroic modes for difficulty and strength.) A similar system is most likely in store for the Battle cruisers. Then we have Jackals. My guess is their arm band has a very high energy output and a much more concentrated electromagnetic field to keep its shape and strength. Now where those two notches are in the shield. I guess that at that point there are two very strong bands of magnets pulling in there as well. That way the Jackal has some place to point his weapon out and fire back. Most of what I said is pure speculation, but it is th best I got.
