In Response To: Re: My semi-annual novel...replayability and teh D (Red_Breast)

Before I start this, understand that I haven't really played videogames at all since September and have completely lost interest in anything halo. I'm no longer an admin at HIH, just a member, and a pretty crappy member at that. I still, for some mysterious reason, log onto irc everyday to chat with a few other IRCers about various life issues but rarely anything at all related to Halo.

Now, just about a week ago I sat at home with my girlfriend out of town and nothing to do, thus I popped in a videogame just to see if I still had a passion for playing. I headed to my collection and grabbed two games, Halo and Halo 2. I stuck in Halo 2 and headed straight for the campaign and plopped my self on the campaign level menu screen. And I stared. I stared and stared, reading up and down the list trying to find any level that interested me at all. Nothing. Maybe it's cause I used to speedrun so I tend to never really play the levels and just skip right through em but none of these interested me. So I took out the disc and inserted Halo 1.

As I reached the campaign menu I smiled as I looked at all of my old profiles, all of my old saves that I used to cherish so much. I was tempted to play the SC hog launch save, but I thought maybe I should start with the basics and just play through a level or two normally. It was so hard to choose, SC or AOTCR. Two Betrayals or the Maw. Oh how fun it would be to hear Sarge give his speech at the beginning of Pillar of Autumn, or maybe meet 343GS for the first time again (pitiful annoying punk, I knew you were evil all along!). I don't know what it is about the game, but it has a replay value more than anything I've ever played. Might be the story, might be the weapons and vehicles, might be the levels. Personally, I think it can't be placed, it just seems to have a special power that draws me back in.

*gasp*
