(Count Zero) :It may be a hard fact to swallow, but we here, the ones who most loudly and frequently profess our devotion to the game, are on the outskirts of the Halo community. The real Halo community is the one you never see online- the millions of people who bought the game, took it home, and simply played it. And chances are they bought the game because they saw one of the ads that everyone here loves to complain about. The ads look silly and "dumbed-down" to us because we are not the audience that Microsoft is trying to attract- and that audience is FAR larger than the group that will be upset by the marketing campaign. I must say I agree with that. Microsoft is trying to attract the mainstream because that is where the money comes from. Not a handful of rabid fans who really love the series and the story it has to tell. I hope that didn't sound anti-Microsoft, because I don't see them as the Ub3r-Evil Giant that many people do. PS - Did Matt Soell really reply in my thread!?! GAH! Stubbs is going to be out of this world. | |
