"It's too mainstream." That's a complaint about Halo 2 that I can NOT see without feeling some amount of disdain; for that attitude implies that the "masses" aren't fit to play. As the statement conveys contempt for others, so I can't help but feel contempt for the statement. And, alas, that often spills over to the person making the statement... something I try to guard against. Broadening an audience is not in itself a bad thing. Unless, of course, you also view Picasso and Mozart and Shakespere as shameless hacks. The bulk of the rest of your post can be summarised into, "Let's pretend that Halo has no flaws, and then compare it to Halo 2." Of course Halo 2 can't measure up if Halo was "perfect"... because nothing is perfect. Deal wiith the imperfections and move on if you can... or don't, and stop playing. -- Steve doesn't agree at all... Halo 2 is a great game, and making it accessable to the "masses" brings more Bungie goodness to more people. | |
