In Response To: Clones and Lies: A Theory Worth Reading (Metatron) I'm going with the Chiron training facility on Mars for one specific reason...the Covenant (duh duh DUUUH). :) As you said, Halo lies in UNSC chartered space, NOT UNSC occupied space. Even ONI would have to conceed there are risks to training Spartan clones in unprotected UNSC space, especially on a perilous alien world they know almost nothing about when they get there. In other words, I'm sure the UNSC wouldn't train there mainly because, yes, if there was a battle between the Covenant and humans on the ring, humanity might win because of the Covenant's reverence for the object, but it's also possible that the Covenant would find out what was going on, and learn everything. There's a greater chance of that happening on Halo then on Mars. Whether it be your ideas of Biological weapons (flood-spartan clones) or the tidbits of MJOLNIR Colonol Ackerson got his hands on, chances are they would find it. You'd also have to give a rough estimate of WHEN the ONI discovered Halo, and how long they've been operating on it. Perhaps it would explain the rivalry between Halsey and him better, I don't know. My only beef with the flood-spartan clone theory led by Ackerson is this: when the POA arrived to Halo, there were no other humans besides the ones who landed. Do you know why? If the Ackerson experiments existed, then they must have failed. Why does Ackerson get a second chance? For that much is obvious in the war council held in Sydney. He gave a soul burning glare to his own superior officer, which must mean he's got something BIG up his sleeve, though who knows what. I don't know, it just seems unreasonable that with all the human lives Ackerson wasted on Halo, that would be given the reigns to another large scale plan...unless even the Admirality didn't know what happened out there. Other than the questions whirling through my head, well done. :) | |
