In Response To: Re: Lunar Defense Perimiter (The Future) First off, the post you commented on was one in which I actually stated that I had originally missed the point. Second, a dense mass cannont move the speed of light in atmosphere. Think about it, the SR-71 reaches incredible temperatures at high speeds, as do spacecraft on re-entry. Most meteorites are wholly burned up upon entering the atmosphere. You're telling me a dense mass could move hundreds of times faster in dense atmosphere and survive? As far as an object in motion staying in motion, that's the law of inertia. I'm a physics major, I kinda knew that. As for what you said concerning radii, all I know is that the Earth-Luna distance is about 250,000 miles, and light moves about 186,300 miles in one second. I've never seen anything saying that was a distance between centers, and until I do see such in a scientific text I stand by the 1.5 second estimate. | |
