That should fix you right up in regards to weapons info. That site has listed pretty much every modern firearm ever invented, with pics, technical info (caliber, ballistic info, magazine capacity etc. etc.) history and so on. Should be all you need to come up with accurate weapons info for your game. As for the rest… uh… what he said *points at Mr. Levinson*

A word from experience: when I was younger (read, four years ago) I tried to something similar to what you are describing, only using the Quake engine. It came up and bit me in my ass. Hard. Hell, it still hurts to sit down. So, start small. Set short hand goals for yourself first, and if you can pull those off, and still feel confident, start expanding your work. And If you can pull THAT off, power to you my friend.
