My (and your) feature requests for Reach

Well, I was planning on post this a while back, but since everyone is jumping on the Reach posting train, I'd thought I'd like to put some ideas forward, see what people think of them.

Now these are mostly multiplayer features that could be, in theory, added without retooling the game. Just some stuff I'd like to have or see. No weapon changes or tweaks here, just 'features'.

Flag carrier and Bomb carrier proximity traits
Same as VIP proximity traits that we have now, you could apply certain traits to people within a certain radius of the flag carrier. For instance, you could have a really slow flag carrier, but if you stay close to him you get overshields. Stuff like that.

Sliders for points limits
For the current history of Halo, we've been stuck with pre-determined selectable point limits. I'd like for Halo to finally catch up to Perfect Dark and let us fine tune these limits.

Bigger point limits
So we can have longer KotH games, but also so we can implement a CoD style "fractional" scoring system if we wanted to (ie, 2000 point limit, kills worth 10 points, assists worth 5, etc)

More than two teams for Flag and Bomb
I really miss this from Halo 2. It'd be nice if we could have multiple teams again.

Bring back Neutral Flag
See above.

Let the flag carrier drive vehicles
Yeah, I know this is technically supposed to work in Halo 3 and doesn't due to a bug. Make sure it works this time around :P

Go-to points for Oddball
Same as Juggernaut and VIP, I'd like to have Go-To points for Oddball. You'd have to hold the ball and reach a go-to point to score.

A new Objective gametype
Yeah, VIP was an interesting attempt to blend Slayer and Objective together. However, I don't think it ever really worked out due to how it was implemented and Bungie's refusal to even tweak the gametype since launch. Sadly, the most popular VIP gametype is Rocket Race. Rocket Race is awesome, but seriously, it's the most use VIP gets.

We need a new objective gametype. Just think of something, I don't care, but we've been stuck with the same objective gametypes for almost a decade now.

An example I could think of is something like the mine cart gametype from TF2, but instead of a cart you would have an engineer.

Keep all Slayer scoring options for VIP
Just a minor annoyance. I wanted to make a gametype called "Scopeback Mountain" where the drivers of mongeese were invisible and invincible, and people would have to snipe the other passengers off the back. Unfortunately, since there was no 'assist' score type for VIP, I couldn't enforce people sniping from the back of mongeese.

Have a 'Mercy Rule' for Slayer
Basically, I want an option where if the point spread hits a certain amount, the game automatically ends. Ideally this would be used for matchmaking when teams end up really mis-balanced. The default would be about 30 points. But even if it wasn't used there, I'd still like to have it for customs.

Invincible means invincible
Need I say more? This is really annoying in Halo 3. Make sure that invincible actually means what it says this time around. But maybe you could also break it down a bit. There's currently "Immune to Headshots". Maybe it could be broken out into "Immune to Headshots", "Immune to Assasination", and "Immune to Body Shots". So then you could have a gametype with Immune to Assasination and Immune to Body Shots, which would make it so kills were only possible with Headshots. (Yeah, I know you can currently enforce this with Halo 3 by only awarding points for Headshots, but this would make it a bit more fun)

Random Weapon Sets
Building off the idea of Random Weapons, we'd have Random Weapon Sets. Basically, the random weapon starts we all know and love, but restricted to certain types. For example:
*Random Human
*Random Covie
*Random No Sniping
*Random Duals
*Random Heavy

Starting Equipment
If equipment is coming back, I'd like to have an option for people to automatically start with equipment, ie Flares for SWAT.

Different Starting weapons for Offense and Defense
IE, start defense with Human loadout (BR/AR) and the other team with Covy loadout (Carbine/PR).

Respawn traits apply to first spawn
Hopefully respawn traits are going to be retained. If so, it'd be great if they were there for the first initial spawn.

Respawn in vehicles
It'd be under the same respawn options as Spawn With Team, Spawn Cycles, Spawn on Capture. It'd be Spawn in Vehicle, and the engine would try to place people in any team-occupied vehicles first before a normal spawn.

Have an actual Race gametype
We've seen how popular Rocket Race was at first, and then it was slowly choked to death by griefing. With the option above and an actual Race gametype that would be 'set up' to remove griefing, I really think the gametype would be better off. Options for VIP that would remove Rocket Race griefing also would work for me.

Slayer scoring options in CTF and Bomb
Example: Set up CTF. Score limit is 200. Flag scores would be worth 75 points, so 3 would automatically end the game, like they currently do. Kills are worth 1 point. So a team would get points for killing but Flag Caps would be worth so much that they would end the game more effectively. Just an option.

Option for Flag/Bomb Carriers to carry objective on their back
So that they can continue to use their weapons while carrying the flag. The only way to drop it would be to die or cap.

Bring back Kill In Order
Only you know who your target is.

Let us set the scoring options for everything
Expand on the Slayer scoring options we have (Assists, etc), and let us tweak the points for hammer sprees, sniping sprees, and each multikill medal.

Let any reasonable weapon parry the sword
I think I've actually done this accidentally due to latency, but if the sword comes back and retains the parry, other weapons like the Rocket Launcher, AR, etc should be able to parry the sword with a well timed melee, just like if you also have a sword currently. Of course, weapons like the Magnum wouldn't be able to do it. Okay, I guess this is a game design request, but I couldn't help myself..

Make sure Lowest Score in Oddball works this time
Self explanatory.

Disable scoping
Not that I'm really into the no-scope culture thingy, but an option to disable scoping for all weapons would be cool.

Option to remove HUD
Like the Blind skull, but with your weapon still on the screen. Or seperate it out into features:

*Display Radar
*Display Weapon Readout
*Display Shields/Health

So for example, a "hardcore" gametype would turn off radar and weapon readout display, so that you would have to actually look at the back of the BR or AR to see the ammo count, but still retain the health readout.

Have an option for Equipment/No Equipment and Camo/OS or No Camo/OS
Remember how in Halo 1 and 2, you could turn off camo/OS in the game options? Yeah, I'd like to have that back, so we don't have to Forge variants of the map with no camo/os/equipment just to not have them there or have them there. This would also let people place custom power ups on their maps but not have them show up for the default gametypes, or make a map with equipment on it but MLG could just turn off equipment if they still hate it. Basically make the map variants a lot more flexible.

Well, that's all I could remember that I wanted off the top of my head. Anyone else have features they would like to see in multiplayer?
