In Response To: is there pilot in covy ships (vshields ash) : i assumed the covies had no pilots in the dropships, because i never see one.
But in the hack videos, it always looked like an elite dropped out of the ship where the pilot would sit. I watched a few different crashes from a few angles, and it looked like they did include a pilot (I could be wrong though). However, I want to reiterate a few points that people made, cos in amongst all this speculation, a few people have muttered some correct answers. No the covenant don't have any sophisticated AI technology, and the only stuff they do have has only recently been stolen from the humans. Someone speculated that the prophets might be the ones more able to control the large ships, the book makes this clear, though that there is an elite who pilots the covenant capital ships, and also makes it seem as though the prophets would never lower themselves to menial tasks. Some of my own speculation.
2. Perhaps the reason why 343GS and his cousins haven't been replicated is because the Halo itself is too holy for such a thing to be contemplated 3. Maybe the forerunner's installed self-destruct mechanisms into their AI's, or maybe even, 4. the Covenant think of 343GS as the last remnant of the forerunner themselves (like an electronic version of the organic forerunner), and thus simply worship him. This would fit in with the AI's caused holy war theory. Maybe an AI like durandal sent a message out to the covenant. The covenant said "They're creating gods like sparky. That's heresy!! let's kill them!!" Or whatever. I know some of this has been speculated, but I don't think my 343GS=last of forerunner theory has been mentioned. |
