In Response To: Re: Where are the Covenant A.I.'s? (Brannon Boren)
in the Halo: the flood capn keyes talks about the covenant being adapative and assimilative (they steal others tech for their own instead of making it) instead of being innovative like us humans, also it says that information systems (e.g. AI software) was the one aspect of technology that the humans were equal to the covs or better, this is why cortana can have her way with the cov battlenet. also since the cov steal technology, they might not understand the complex programming language that may come with some of it... i'm no scientist here but i imagine it would be easier to reverse engineer physical technology, which is based on real world physics laws and such then to reverse engineer alien software, which would require you to understand their programming language, which would probably really hard. Here's an analogy for you all, imagine dropping a simple but modern combustion engine in the lap of a 1700-1800's scientist, he could probably figure it out sooner or later. but drop a computer with a C++ compiler on it and the scientist would never understand it in a million years, let alone think that it is some kind of magic. Hmmm... that leads me to a thought, i'm sure it has been brought up before, but what if the covs hate us for our ablity to create artificial beings? when life is only to be granted to those by god, or gods, maybe that is why we are an affront to the gods? think about it. well anyway thanx for listening to me blabber
