Let's assume that the profits are the only covenant race that still have memory of the forerunner, or are descendants of the forerunner themselves, and when the forerunner tried to create a biological form of A.I.(basically brainwashed clones, or something of the like) they got the flood. And that's why they're pissed off at the Humans, because they did something they couldn't. They could be leading a war against the Human race because they believe they are a threat because they created A.I. and all they could do was create a life sucking death virus.

Of course, I could be wrong. This is my first time posting, hope I added something interesting to the barrel.
