I think these kinds of attempts work better either when the entire article is in that style, leaving the reader with no doubt that all suggestions are sarcastic-- the extreme ones, and some of the more moderate ones that the author happens to feel are also wrong or silly. The problem with mixing is that no matter how silly you think something is, there are people somewhere who believe it earnestly, so even recognizing that the suggestions within that section were sarcastic, I came to doubt the rest of the article. : The response and discussion here to the article has been great and I'm
