As close as possible? The way I see it, if it doesn't feel like Halo, it isn't Halo. If the Silent Cartographer doesn't feel like the Silent Cartographer then it isn't. I'm not against slight changes and updates here and there but why even go to the bother of remaking something if you are going to fundamentally change it in any way serious fashion. : The fact remains that if I want to play Halo and take a trip down memory
This is one of the reason why I question why a remake is even needed. Yeah, I could be playing Halo right now on my PC. I played it for an hour the other night. I've already bought the game twice on two platforms. 343i need to convince why a remake is better idea than, say Halo Wars 2 or maybe Elite 3rd persion action adventure or something. Look at planet of the Apes remake. They tried to adapt that to modern tastes and failed. Heck, I question why they felt the need to remake it in the first place. : If a Halo remake is straight up Halo in HD I'm not going to bother with it.
I'm the kind of guy that would be afraid that adding new mechanics and elements into a classic. I think it would risk alienating a large portion of fans. Yeah, looks like we have different opinion on this, but I sincerely respect your position. I guess I'd lean closer to your side of the argument if I wasn't so conservative about why I like the original Halo.
