Thanks for your in-depth reply. =) I never stated there shouldn't be an online competitive multiplayer but I think there is no chance of having one because of the reason I gave in the article. If CEmake does happen and comes complete with multiplayer, would I be happier? Most likely. I'd be worried about the impact on Reach to be sure but I'd be happy with an entirely fresh Halo multiplayer experience. (Fresh since I missed out on the original CE multiplayer.) : Oh, and you're worried about the player base of Reach? I think Reach has more : to worry about from whatever new hotness everyone migrates to this fall. : It already took a big hit when Black Ops came out, and now Gears 3, Modern : Warfare 3, and Battlefield 3 are all on the horizon. I can guarantee you : that MS doesn't care, so long as everyone's playing on XBL. They got their : $60 per person already. As for 343i, I don't think they'd care about : whatever part of Reach's player base hops over to a Halo 1 port, since : after all those players will still be playing a Halo game. What's the : worst that'll happen? The playlist selection in Reach gets consolidated? : Big whoop. It's going to happen eventually. Hell, it'll probably happen by : years end with or without a Halo 1 re-release. I like playing Reach. Others will inevitably draw players away and Reach's online will diminish as time goes by but by releasing another Halo online game within a year's of Reach's release would surely kill it off much quicker. Then I'd be sad waiting longer times for matches. : Then you go on to suggest that 343i should add soft-kill barriers and other : methods of curtailing exploration to the Campaign. No. Just no. You should : be thrown out of the airlock for even thinking that, much less writing it : down for everyone to read. That's just utter blasphemy. I can't think of a : single hardcore Halo fan, trickers or not, who have thought that Bungie's : insistence on adding more and more barriers to exploration is a good : thing. I want to climb to the top of the mountains on Halo-the-level, I : want to descend to the bottom of the substation on Silent Cartographer, : and I want to grab a Banshee on AotCR and fly to the bottom of the shaft : at the beginning of the level. In the immortal words of Freddie Mercury : "I WANT TO BREAK FREEEE!" If 343i added invisible walls to Halo : 1's Campaign, it would be an affront to Halo fans everywhere. Sarcasm. I've said it before multiple times now so my apologies once again if my sarcasm didn't translate through the text. The "Softly Does It" paragraph was meant to be overtly sarcastic and the point I was making was the complete opposite to the literal meaning therein. I blame the ocean. The ocean eats away at attempts at humour when speaking across it sometimes. : Finally, you want 343i to replace the soundtrack. I think I'm gonna be sick. : Unless I'm misreading you and you just want actual orchestras instead of : MIDI tracks for the appropriate tracks, then you just spat in the face of : Marty O'Donnell and his magnum opus. You do not screw with one of the : greatest and most iconic soundtracks in the history of gaming. You might be misreading. 343i used orchestral renditions of some of the Halo CE tracks and they were fantastic. I want more of this, especially for a CEmake. 343i'S original music is pretty good too, so if there are instances were they would need to use original music (although I cannot think of any) I'd be happy for them to do it.
