Actually, I think I would like The Silent Cartographer more if it had sharks. Especially sharks with friggin' laser beams. That'll teach the Covenant. And as logical as your point about not having online multiplayer is, I completely disagree. Halo:CE fans missed out on multiplayer the first time around because Xbox Live was non-existent with it first launched. Halo PC was a smash hit. To deny people the ability to finally play Halo 1 multiplayer over Xbox Live would be cruel and unusual. And Reach isn't an old game. But if everyone flocks from Halo Reach to the multiplayer in a Halo:CE remake, perhaps that would say something about what people really think about Reach. Nelson's XBL popularity rankings be damned. Split the Reach population by adding multiplayer into a Halo CE remake. Sure, neither Reach nor the remake would ever make the #1 most-played spot again, but I know I won't lose any sleep over that. If there is going to be a Halo CE remake, then they need to have full multiplayer over XBL for it. That, or make the game $20 w/ FF like ODST. I'm somewhat content with paying $60 for a title like Reach because with multiplayer there is tons of replay ability. ODST, however... I mean, the campaign was great, but there's just not enough there to warrant its $60 price tag. If you remake Halo:CE and don't add in XBL multiplayer, you had better think long and hard about the price tag. There will already be a large number of people upset with whatever price tag you give the game because its a remake from 10 years ago. To then deny them any sort of added functionality (XBL multiplayer) will only make them angrier. - "Dialogue can be updated and rewritten but adding new characters, scenes or levels is a serious risk to the integrity of the original game. " No, dialogue can *not* be rewritten. Obviously I would like them to redo all the voice recordings, preferably with the same voice actors (though I understand some might not be interested, and so close substitutions would have to be made). But I do not want them to change a single scripted like. Combat dialogue can be changed (as long as my wort-wort-worts stay. <3), sure. But scripted dialogue should not be changed at all. That's a change I do not want made to the Halo story. I mostly agree with you regarding adding characters, scenes or levels. But I might be interested in the addition of a level or two from The Flood. I would make these levels unlockable only after you had beaten the original game. I think this would allow the community to get a taste for 343i's true creative ability without having to risk $60 on a brand new game. But I would definitely not want these sorts of levels thrown in during the normal campaign. Absolutely not. - It's quite hard for me to tell, but I'm not sure if your section entitled "Softly Does It" is meant to be sarcastic or not. It sounds very much so, but at the same time, you don't make it very obvious that it is. All I'll say is that that section had better be 100% sarcasm, or you just made an enemy with everyone who has ever frequented HIH. :| - I agree with the Warthog launching bit. That's classic, and while I think it would be interesting to have destroyable human vehicles in Halo 1 campaign, I definitely think we need an option to make them indestructible for launching. :) - "The original music in Legends was also outstanding and kept the charm, tone and feel of Halo fully intact." Yes and no. It felt like Halo music, but it didn't feel like Marty music. And that made me a sad panda. :( I think it's a step in the right direction, but it needs some serious work still. - "Make the easter eggs unique to this unique game and keep players guessing." I agree that there need to be easter eggs unique to a CE remake. But I would really like to be able to revisit the classic Halo 1 easter eggs as well. I know the original Halo 1 devs threw them in there themselves as something special (and in some cases, like the Megg, as something personal), but I would really like to see them "ported" to a remake. Just for posterity's sake, and as a nodd to the original Halo 1 devs. :)
