I can't quite say that what Eric Nylund or Greg Bear brought to the table has the exact same flavor as what Bungie cooked up, but they nicely complement each other. They gave us meat with our potatoes, story with our action. A lot of the people behind Legends didn't quite read the invitation, and so brought sushi. They meant well, but it kinda clashed with the main course, and they didn't bake it long enough. Rushed it out of the oven. Ensemble Studios just phoned in with a pizza. It's over there on the back table; a few people are going for it, but the rest of us are just shaking our heads. ES also invited Blur Studios along. Nice guys, but they didn't plan to stay for long. Just stop by, say hello, bring some frosted sugar cookies from Wal-Mart. You know, the ones that look good, but taste like cardboard? Next year, I guess 343i is in charge of the potluck. Wonder how it's going to turn out. : "Prototype" is my favorite entry in Halo: Legends, but that's : because I'm a Gundam fan. I love Evolutions "The Mona Lisa," but : it seems odd that all that could be going on around the same time that : High Charity moved into the area. ... ach... Yeah, inconsistencies are a hallmark of a shared universe. I just don't think that retcons are usually necessary. Those are powered exoskeletons and power armor, not mecha. A mech is a vehicle that walks. Powered armor is armor that amplifies the user's strength and endurance. Believe it or not, there's a pretty big difference from a tactical standpoint. At least power armor doesn't have a profile the size of a small house. : I enjoy Reach's variety of Armor Abilities, but I would rather retool the : concept than get in a flame war with the dorks who would have an apoplexy : over the idea of Master Chief pop'n an' locking, if you know what I mean. I'm talking to one of those guys right now. : Sounds cool to me. Kind of like what the Steam community has been doing with : Left 4 Dead. Valve has even adopted user-created campaigns for PC players. : But that would require Microsoft letting Halo become open-source, which I : just don't see happening. =/ Well, Halo: PC had a good run. We can hope.
