There are a number of attempts at humour sprinkled throughout the article but the Softly Does It section was written purposely with a humorous style and intent. My aim with that particular section was to make a point by suggesting the complete opposite notion. It's very blatant. Players are idiots? Miraculous anti-player, pro-developer freedom technology? Dumb players that would find the various ways out of levels? Fun kill countdown timer? I assumed the inclusion of such obviously silly statements would signpost that particular section clearly. However it seems as if a small minority of folks that read it it didn't get the joke. This has been quite the valuable lesson to me. I don't normally attempt to insert any kind of humour into any of my articles due to the nature of the content I write about but I felt there was some freedom surrounding the subject of a Halo remake that would allow it. For the record, the Softly Does It section is the only section written like it is. The response and discussion here to the article has been great and I'm thankful for it.
