In Response To: Re: Wow, I'll be picking this up. (YNation913) : I'm sort of anxious because I have a feeling that Humanity's : "discovery" by the Forerunners won't be explained by the end of : this book. That is, if the whole "anomalous world" storyline : even exists in this. I mean, do we even know if the Librarian mentioned in : the chapters is the same one from the Terminals? There is no evidence that the Librarian is dead at the time of the events of chapter one so it is possible that Earth is yet to be found. Maybe Humans were known to the Librarian before she found Earth. Maybe Forerunners were mistaken when they thought that Erde-Tyrene was our birthplace. Though I'm not sure how you could make that mistake :-) A colony world would not have the geological and evolutionary history that the homeworld would have, even if it was freshly terraformed and populated entirely with Earth species because you wouldn't have fossil fishibians, early vertebrates, etc. You would only have modern species. Maybe this could be explained by postulating that Forerunners never had a home world so never knew what it was like to have the geological and evolutionary evidence that would confirm that they had evolved on a given planet. I'm not sure that I would be convinced by that argument because they would have been able to observe planets that had not been tampered with and should have known what to look for by observing them. Maybe their scientists were lazy or uninterested (and so not deserving of the title). (Or the Precursors faked the fossil record on Erde-Tyrene. ZOMG!) In chapter one it states: Because of strong similarities in our natural genetic structure, some Forerunner sages thought humans might be a brethren species, also shaped and given breath by the Precursors. Maybe when Earth was eventually found it contained Humans that were closer to Forerunners and so the relationship would be harder to escape. And maybe the evidence that Humans had evolved on Earth would strongly suggest that Forerunners had also originated from there. As an aside: I assume that Florians are a nod to Homo floresiensis.
