In Response To: I must be late to the party (Joony Joon) : I imagined at least some of you would be annoyed that 343 Guilty Spark's : assertion that Forerunners=Humans is no longer true. This is the first : concrete mention of otherwise that I've come across since Halo 3. : What the fuck did I miss between then and now? Don't be confused by the existence of the Halo Bible. The Halo story was not finished over ten years ago. There have always been conflicting accounts and differences of opinion between the many authors of the Halo story. Now that the story is in 343i's hands it is Frankie's vision and the visions of new writers that will prevail. Don't make the mistake of thinking that this stuff about rebellious young Forerunners and hidden secrets on islands was always in the Halo story. And don't make the mistake of thinking that there was only one single, unified, version of the Halo story. Each author would have had their own take on it. The guys at 343i will write whatever they feel like writing. If you find it hard to reconcile with what has gone before... well tough. Plenty of things that Bungie wrote contradicted what they or Nylund had said before. This is nothing new. And you never know, maybe at the end it will all make sense and you will understand how they can be different and the same. I'm not sure that that will happen but you never know. My guess is that Staten thought that Humans and Forerunners were the same - that our fore runner ness was due to common descent. I think that Frankie wrote that stuff on amazon about black holes sending out waves that gave Humans the Factor F. That suggests tampering with our evolution, that our Fore runner ness is not down to common descent but to a form of horizontal trait transfer or novel trait acquisition achieved via technological intervention.
