I've heard great things about his work but I've not had the chance to read any of it yet. I'll admit, it may read better when I've had some rest, but this was just my first impression. I felt that there were too many plot elements introduced, hinted at, and casually mentioned with little to no exposition on what they meant or their importance. The characters felt off to me, like things that don't belong in Halo. The way the dialogue is written seems...I don't know how to put it. It just comes off as badly written fan-fiction to me. I genuinely hope that this series takes off from here, as I've been looking forward to it immensely. I realize and acknowledge how foolish it is to try and judge it by only the first two pages, but right now I've got a bad taste in my mouth. And to not clutter the forum with any more of my ramblings: @Wu: I tried to use what I thought was the spoiler tag, and I couldn't get it to work. I really need some sleep...
