This is why I focus on the novels for both universes and just enjoy the games for what they are worth. The cheese factor certainly goes down many notches for both series when you do that.

As for your reference. Instead of being "grim" that is kinda dark. But you must understand WHY it is no big deal to lose those planets. (Although losing a planet is still technically a big deal). What was that quote again?

"For every planet lost another ten are brought into the fold. Fear us, for we do not measure victory in the lives of men, but of planets."

Or something like that. Sounds pretty damn grim to be a person if you ask me.
