In Response To: My Views... (Leviathan) I really liked the transport crash moment in Reach's 'Exodus' level the first time around, but ultimately my ability to feel the game's grimness was hampered by my problems with the narrative execution and the occasionally cornball or weirdly unpolished dialogue. On later playthroughs my view of Reach as a narrative has been negative enough that it just doesn't connect with me any more. I think my favorite emotional moment in the game was at the end of the Falcon ride on Exodus when the decision's made to set down and try to help the civilians get out. That was, as I think I said in my initial reactions to the game, the kind of tone the whole game needed to shoot for: desperate aw-hell defiance in the face of impossible odds. Additionally it makes me pine a bit for some of the gameplay scenarios we could've had. Holding off Covenant with civilians boarding transports behind us - that's powerful. More powerful, for me, than pressing buttons to drive a ship off, without any kind of time limit to go with the scared voices on the radio. It's the offscreen problem.
