In Response To: My Views... (Leviathan) : I could go on about Reach's grimness for a while, I think. It almost seems : with every shot of the cinematography that Bungie was intent on ramping up : the darkness that's always been present here and there in Halo. It's just : oozing in darkness, visually - and that really affected me. There was also the moment you find the dead Marines on Winter Contingency, both apparently tortured and one hung up. That was a bit of a new thing for me in a Halo game, one step up from the conclusion of Sadie's Story in ODST. Other than the parts mentioned, I think the moment that got to me most was overflying the ruined New Alexandria in the back of the Pelican, with Marty's music carrying the whole scene. Moment's later we're seeing CCS Battlecruisers actually glassing the city, setting the whole world on fire. Final moment in that level is going into the Sinoviet building after getting the foreboding radio transmissions. There's a certain route to the jammer which builds up a lot more suspense, but its easy to miss pretty much all the effect since there are alternate routes.
