: All of this is my personal opinion, of course. I agree with your assessments, even though I'm a "Sprint" man because I DON'T like the new jetpack ability to just bypass those travel paths. Halo 3's paths were SO limited that it was extremely easy to set up funnels, even at large distances away. What I'd like to see is a remake of Turf. I wanted Chillout to come back and I love Cold Fusion, it works with the Halo 3 system fairly well, despite being a bit too large. I am also in the "Remake Damnation" camp as that was probably my favorite Halo 1 map ever. I would say that of all the Halo 3 maps, the one that MOST captured the Halo 1/2 feel, even though it still has issues, is Ghost Town. The center room though is the only place that really got it. It was solid and defendable by a good team, but still there were so many points of ingress, that you couldn't fully lock it down. What I think we need to see more of are the highly asymmetrical maps. Some examples: Chillout, Ratrace, Damnation, Hang 'em High, Chiron TL-34, Prisoner, Turf, Burial Mounds, Ascension. All of these are small to medium sized maps, highly asymmetrical, yet feel balanced around most parts of the map. The medium-small asymmetrical maps introduced in Halo 3 were High-Ground, Orbital, Guardian, Longshore and Ghost Town. None of these feel really as balanced or have the fluid movement lines.
