A four man fire team I suppose is a more classical approach. I play very, VERY little multiplayer but when I do, in team games, I tend to try and pick another player to stick by just so I have someone to concentrate fire with. Usually this is done without voice commo and can be a bit frustrating if that player reverses direction often and suddenly, which is often the case as they pursue an agenda you are not privy to (seeking out preferred weapons/equipments/areas). This is basically useful in team slayer and other team games except CTF, which I find really DOES need voice communication. Without it, balacing offense and defense simply becomes too ad hoc.
