In Response To: Re: Frankie said the galaxy is the Milky Way (kapowaz) : Well that's that settled then! I'm still curious as to the conspicuously : different art style of the two galaxies. Maybe it was just an oversight? In my recurring role as killjoy, I'd have to say that it probably was an oversight. If I'm reading the credits right, Bungie subcontracted most, if not all, of the work on the cutscenes: "here's the storyboards, the script, and the recorded dialogue - off you go!". The skybox art used in-game, however, would probably be done in-house. I seem to remember that early this year, shortly after a forum discussion right here which began with the likely distribution of the Halo rings and veered off into galactic structure, Frankie mentioned in a Weekly Update that he and another Bungie employee had spent some time seeking professional advice about that very subject - galactic structure. The skybox image presumably post-dates that event, the cutscene image may pre-date it, and the inconsistency may simply have slipped through the cracks. As previous posts clearly show, most people who don't take a specialist interest in the subject still think that the Milky Way's a plain spiral. Alternatively, the flatter, plain-spiral image may have been retained because it was a better fit with the letterbox format of the cutscene screen.
