In Response To: Re: Holy shit Bungie..... (GhaleonEB) I personally liked the way he looked in the announcement trailer. It just seemed... new. For me, that was the tipping point for the term "next-gen." The Chief of olde (Well, May 2006) seemed like a real character. The combination of great animation, cinematic lighting, enormous scale, and texture modeling made it look like nothing I'd ever seen before. I'm not one to decry Bungie's decision-making skills, but this seems like a bit of a step back in the evolution of Halo's trademark art style. Right now there's a huge contrast between the detail in the environments and the detail in the character within it. That's new for us. Halo and Halo 2 both had very unique art styles. When you look back on them, there's not too much in common with the other. But now, that seems to be the case. Again, I've got every ounce of faith directed towards Bungie delivering on what Halo 3 should be. I'm just a little worried that they're advancing backwards in areas that, for all intensive purposes, were just fine the way they were when Halo 3 was first shown to us.
