No offense to Bungie or anything, but I'm not even sure if they could keep it all straight...not because they're unable, but because they're unwilling. It seems to me that although Bungie seems to enjoy the books and get along with Mr. Nylund and Mr. Dietz, there's some resentment in that the novels were the first time their "baby" got taken away, and there was nothing they could do about it. Case in point, Mr. Nylund's explanation of Sgt. Johnson surviving the Flood is NOT the way Bungie wanted it to be explained (their version is shown via HGN). I'd rather Mr. Nylund be the expert...since he IS the person who wrote it and all. What I'm trying to say is, the canon is already disputed internally regarding specific points, so going to just one source or the other isn't going to make it any easier. Don't get me wrong though, I hope that it goes peachy...I'm just concerned, just like most of the other people here. | |
