Let's remember ILB which was awesome, a very cool, new kind of game with a great story, a rousing success (though probably nto the same impact on the Halo gamng community as a whole 360 game like Halo Wars). In the end, Bungie disavowed its canonical status, despite their fairly hands-on approach during its creation. Frankly, outside of our little community, the discrepancies haven't caused too much cognitive dissonance. I don't see a big problem with having a slightly different version of the Halo universe out there.
