In Response To: Re: Halo Wars Q and A interview (Sep7imus [subnova]) : Let's remember ILB...*snip*... in the end, Bungie disavowed its canonical status No they didn't. Joe Staten only said that if he had to draw a line on what is or isn't "canon", ILB wouldn't have made it. He never actually drew that line. I don't remember any article of annoucement officially released by Bungie saying "Ok... this is canon, and this is not." Elements from ILB (which was created by Microsoft, who owns Bungie and therefore by proxy the Halo IP) have popped up all over. Coral, the planet that was reported as glassed in ILB, was even mentioned in the Conversations from the Universe booklet that was packaged with the Special Edition Halo 2. That was Bungie Official. So, until Bungie (as a consensus; not just one employee) releases some kind of official document or article that specifically tells us what is or isn't canon, I consider ILB, Halo Wars, the Books, the Halo Graphic Novel, as canon. |
