In Response To: Maxwell equation use inferior in the Covenant? (Exiled Zealot) : I remember this from Halo: First Strike when Cortana was analyzing covenant : technology. Cortana said something like "their grasp of maxwell : equations was surprisingly inferior." The 4 maxwell equations : (Gauss's Law, Gauss's Law for Magnetism, Faraday's Law of Induction, and : Ampere's Law) govern electricity and magnetism specific relationships, and : are either represented as integrals or as vector equations with gradient : operators (introduced in E&M physics and multivariable calculus). : Now, with all due respect, how the f*** can that be possible?! This is an : empire that has mastered slipspace, plasma coil weaponry, artificial : gravity, many things that have electromagnetic relationships involved, not : to mention the all knowing engineers to design them. : My guess? The Covenant took the forerunners technology and employed it : without a SINGLE shred of care of how it worked, and as a result, their : grasp of E&M is inferior. Seriously, that's my only guess. : It just seems impractical and unlikely that their engineers have not derived : the same relationships. : Thoughts? Other people have probably said this, but the basic point of this thread has been posted hundreds of times (although not in the same context).
