In Response To: Maxwell equation use inferior in the Covenant? (Exiled Zealot) : I remember this from Halo: First Strike when Cortana was analyzing covenant : technology. Cortana said something like "their grasp of maxwell : equations was surprisingly inferior." The 4 maxwell equations : (Gauss's Law, Gauss's Law for Magnetism, Faraday's Law of Induction, and : Ampere's Law) govern electricity and magnetism specific relationships, and : are either represented as integrals or as vector equations with gradient : operators (introduced in E&M physics and multivariable calculus). : Now, with all due respect, how the f*** can that be possible?! This is an : empire that has mastered slipspace, plasma coil weaponry, artificial : gravity, many things that have electromagnetic relationships involved, not : to mention the all knowing engineers to design them. : My guess? The Covenant took the forerunners technology and employed it : without a SINGLE shred of care of how it worked, and as a result, their : grasp of E&M is inferior. Seriously, that's my only guess. : It just seems impractical and unlikely that their engineers have not derived : the same relationships. : Thoughts? well...now we know why you were exiled ;) odd it is, for sure. i've a buncha un-answered questions meself. for instance- why un-encrypted transmissions? why 128 bit encryption code, for a door that goes nowhere? why a tiny fleet to tackle the earth? how did keyes arrive at halo1, it was totally impossible, and he stopped a jump to make a perfect orbit...? there are tons of questions, few answers, lottsa speculation. from what i think i see, there is more to the covies than we have been exposed to. there surely must be a link to them, or the for runners. mc can use their weaps...yuh...he can hud their weaps...sure he can. seems to me, Halo 3 has a lot of things to answer for. that is for thems who are locked in the strife of all the processes. i dunno...i play em as they make em. i grumble till i figure enuff out to be happy. as far as details in the plot...a few bug me, but most of it i let pass. ( they do pretty good at Bungie...no?) i would like some much more difficult questions answered...for example : why was mc ordered to kill those marines? totally not cool, or needed. why is so much detail, and power, left to cortana...no failsafe for her? she sure wasted dropship 22, in halo 1, without a seconds hesitation, for a hog he didn't need, and not even a full load of rockets ;( ash p.s. how do we reconcile the fact that sarge is invinceable? who has the armor, mc or sarge? ( mumble amongst yerselves ;)
