| Maxwell equation use inferior in the Covenant? | |

I remember this from Halo: First Strike when Cortana was analyzing covenant technology. Cortana said something like "their grasp of maxwell equations was surprisingly inferior." The 4 maxwell equations (Gauss's Law, Gauss's Law for Magnetism, Faraday's Law of Induction, and Ampere's Law) govern electricity and magnetism specific relationships, and are either represented as integrals or as vector equations with gradient operators (introduced in E&M physics and multivariable calculus). Now, with all due respect, how the f*** can that be possible?! This is an empire that has mastered slipspace, plasma coil weaponry, artificial gravity, many things that have electromagnetic relationships involved, not to mention the all knowing engineers to design them. My guess? The Covenant took the forerunners technology and employed it without a SINGLE shred of care of how it worked, and as a result, their grasp of E&M is inferior. Seriously, that's my only guess. It just seems impractical and unlikely that their engineers have not derived the same relationships. Thoughts? | |
