That's one possibility anyway. Raises an interesting question (which has probably been raised before); is it possible that engineers are actually Forerunner tech? Not evolved organisims, but artificial ones designed by the Forerunner to maintain their tech. Seems unlikely, given the halo activation which wiped out the forerunner and all other potential flood-food, but perhaps their biomass (or something of the like) makes them immune to flood infection? If there's another post along these lines that my fast search didn't turn up, I'd appreciate the pointer
