In Response To: volunteers (Deadguy71) : If you use a general polling system instead of a group of judges, several : advantages turn up. : #1- no concerns about certain people's availability. : #2- by the people, for the people.. who knows best? : #3- vids are critiqued by many folks. The feedback allows folks to learn how : to make their vids better (in some cases). : #4- If someone produces huge volumes of utter crap, they'll be forced to : accept the criticism that comes with doing that, rather than "hiding : anonymously in the crowd". However, several disadvantages show up, also: 1) HBO and Mythica have a lot of bandwidth, but that plan would require hosting a hell of a lot more videos. It kind of defeats the purpose of weeding out the bad videos, as you're just, in turn, accepting them all anyways. 2) You'll most likely have people voting against videos just because they didn't like the music, or that a montage took place in training games, or whatnot. Having a smaller collection of voters allows for more consistent, and hopefully, more fair judgment. 3) A counter-argument to your fourth point: we're not trying to put shame on the makers of bad videos, we're just trying to let the community know that the movies being announced/hosted/etc. are worthwhile to d/l and watch. If one person in particular submits ten videos and none are accepted, I think that proves the point that they should improve their skills a little before submitting another. : In case the question comes up,.. ballot stuffing isn't a pplicable because on : most forums you'd have to log-in in-order to vote. But not on this forum, or this site, which is where the voting takes place.
