In Response To: did anyone else understand that? (rolly poly) Read my response again -- no, really, read it. There is no way to solve the problem of crappy video submission short of removing video hosting altogether. My solution, however complex one might think, solves many problems, and gets closer to a true solution than just shrugging shoulders and continuing to hit the send button. Let's boil the problem down. 1. People don't read guidelines before submitting, and therefore think that every single scrap of crap that pops out of their head is for public consumption, therefore, FTP UPLOAD TIME. Therefore, showing them the guidelines, forcing them to read and answer at least solves that part (somewhat). If they lie, then we can penalize. 2. There is far too much time required to apply the Louis Wu filter to everything that comes in. When he finds something that is just WAY off, it is often too much to critique the movie, so that the individuals learn and improve, or just go away. Peer reviews, in a controlled format would solve this. 3. You would not believe the number of emails he receives simply asking for the status of their movie. Anxious Annie aside; displaying a status reduces yet another paperwork nightmare. Think of this as the Academy Awards. There are certain people around the world that review the movies before they are actually considered for an award. This peer review process works, and minimizes the amount of actual movies that have to be presented during the awards and voted on for consideration. There are hundreds of movies each year, yet only five or six every make the cut -- how does their system work, yet this one would fail?
